Originally uploaded to soundcloud 6 years ago, this episode of How to Change the World features an interview with Isaac Miranda, a young person from Tulare, California who put on one of the first free community art shows in his city for young people. We talk about the importance of community, and how he was able to bring people of all ages together for an empowering night in his uncle’s warehouse.
For episode 2 of How to Change the World, we are going to Sacramento for a weekend-long conference called “Day at the Capitol” put on by California Youth Connection. California Youth Connection is a non profit organization that sends young Californians ages 14-24 to Sacramento to lobby for new laws that reform the foster care system.

Well on this episode, he returns with Eva Sanchez to talk about Students United in Solidarity, a social activist club at Cal State East Bay. Listen to hear about how this dope club is gaming up the student body on their rights as citizens as well as getting student art out into the community!
In this episode of How to Change the World, we talk about the new local control funding formula that California implemented in 2013 that provides more equitable funding to k-12 public schools and allows for more community involvement in how those dollars are spent. Guests on this episode are Geordee from Californians for Justice, a Bay Area non profit advocacy organization that advocates for public education change, and Shanthi Gonzalez, who is on Oakland Unified School District’s school board.
